Leamington Soccer Fieldhouse
Argent Architecture + Design recently teamed up with Intrepid General to submit a design - build proposal and feasibility study to the city of Leamington for a new soccer fieldhouse.
This facility, intended to serve the local soccer associations, would incorporate a series of simple yet unique single slope roofs that when aligned, would create a distinctive sawtooth form to the overall complex. The form of the structure is also functional in nature. Within the high clerestory bays, a continuous ribbon of glazing and ventilation louvers are incorporated, bringing both abundant natural daylight and airflow to the interior.
The complex will be sited to take advantage of seasonal prevailing winds and to maximize daylight exposure. All of these design features work together to sustainable illuminate and ventilate the facility, and reduce overall energy consumption.
Starbucks, the world famous coffee brand, has engaged Argent Architecture + Design as it's Architect on a number of it's tenant improvement projects.
On these projects, Argent Architecture + Design is typically responsible for overall design and coordination with Starbucks standards, along with providing and coordinating the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems design.
Modular Affordable Housing
Argent Architecture + Design has teamed up with a well known regional steel home fabricator to design a series of modular steel framed affordable housing developments in the Espanola area of Central Ontario.
These residential developments are marketed towards retirees and anyone looking to own a small, affordable home.
These homes are affordable because of their design. They are efficiently planned, sit on a tight footprint and most importantly, these steel framed homes are modularly designed and mass produced in a factory, which makes for efficient use of materials as well as labour.
All homes are engineered for steel framing, are highly insulated and sit on an insulated concrete form foundation, all of which create a very comfortable and energy efficient home to live in.
Proposed Industrial Building Expansion
Argent Architecture + Design has been commissioned to master plan an expansion to a rapidly growing Windsor area manufacturing facility. The plan is made up of an addition to the existing building, as well as a separate freestanding vehicle storage garage.
Our client sought architecture that was more contemporary and progressive than the plain concrete block boxes that are typically found in the area.
Our plan calls for an addition that creates an exterior grid of vibrant white insulated metal panels, along with some random grey and black panels that play of off the existing building. A glazed wall anchors the end of the addition, which backs onto a major highway. This window wall not only works to naturally illuminate the interior, but also invites those driving by to see the manufacturing process within.
This custom private residence was designed by Argent Architecture + Design for a young, growing family in Lakeshore, Ontario.
This home actually began as tiny, century old cabin that had been added on to over the years. The family's goal was to use the existing structure, and expand it in order to create a proper family home.
The existing building was stripped to it's basic elements and an addition was constructed. A new roof was built over the entire assembly to anchor it all together.
The home is designed in a Craftsman style, with exposed timbers, stone veneer and both vertical and shingle wood siding.
Argent Architecture + Design worked with Rosati Construction, Inc. to design this new, modern facility for the Malden Dental team in Lasalle, Ontario.
The design program is centered around several state of the art patient care areas. The building also contains a full service laboratory and staff amenities.
The facility is sited on a busy corner lot in the commercial heart of LaSalle, and takes advantage of this by presenting a sleek and highly detailed exterior facade to the adjacent streets as well as to the patient entrances to the side and rear.
The exterior design utilizes a high end palette of materials including stone, brick and wood-grain longboard siding. Additionally, the use of tall, energy efficient windows bring abundant natural daylight into the building.
Argent Architecture + Design was commissioned to redesign a boathouse residence in Lakeshore, Ontario. The existing concrete block structure is situated on the banks of the Belle River and contains a very unique feature - a boathouse space - allowing it's owner to park their boat right inside the house while providing direct water access.
Our firm was tasked with re-imagining the home, both inside and out. The interior of the home was completely demolished and re-designed to suit the needs of a a young family. The exterior envelope was redesigned to provide a new, modern aesthetic that maximizes views of the river while also increasing energy efficiency.
Argent Architecture + Design collaborated with the Owners to deliver several design options, pictured here. The final option was selected and construction is underway. Progress photos will follow on this very exciting and unique project.
